Frequently asked questions

What is an uptime monitor?

It's an automated check that verifies, at regular intervals, whether a site or online service is reachable and working correctly. If it stops responding, it immediately alerts whoever needs to know, instead of letting users or customers find out first.

Do I need to be technical to use Etizei?

No. You can configure everything yourself, with an interface built for people who don't work with this kind of tool every day, or let the Etizei team handle it, in part or in full. Neither path requires technical skills on your side.

Can the team set up the configuration for me?

Yes. You can ask the team to set up the entire monitoring setup, or just a few specific checks while you handle the rest yourself. The service is available on request and, if you'd rather, can be included directly in your subscription.

How much does Etizei cost?

The annual plan starts at €15 + VAT per month (€180 + VAT billed yearly). The service is activated by request: tell us what needs watching and we'll quote accordingly, no credit card required to get started.

How does annual billing work?

The annual plan is billed as a single €180 + VAT invoice, equivalent to €15 + VAT per month. It's the recommended plan and includes initial setup, self-service or assisted, at no extra cost.

Is monthly billing available too?

Yes, on request and with no annual commitment, at a higher price than the annual plan. The exact figure is confirmed together with your quote, based on what you need to monitor.

What kinds of checks can I run?

Four: HTTP/HTTPS (web pages, with keyword and status-code verification), TCP (specific server ports, e.g. database or mail server), ICMP/ping (network reachability) and heartbeat/cron (for scheduled jobs, where your own script has to "check in" at a regular interval). Plus automatic SSL certificate expiry tracking.

Do I need to install anything on my server?

No. Etizei checks from the outside: just give it the address to watch, no agent or software to install server-side (except for heartbeat monitors, where your own scheduled job calls an address we give you, not the other way around).

Can I have a public status page with my own branding?

Yes, when included in the plan you choose. You can create public status pages with your brand, using your own name, colors and logo, without visible Etizei branding. The number of pages depends on the plan and account configuration.

Can I embed the status page in my own site?

Yes, via iframe. Embedding stays blocked by default on any domain, as a security measure: the domain the page can be called from has to be explicitly authorized. A compact style is also available, light or dark, built to blend into the site hosting it.

Is it suited for a single project, or only for agencies with many clients?

Both, with the same account: a professional tracks their own site solo, an agency organizes that same account into separate users as its client count grows. They're not two different products, it's the same tool scaling up when it needs to.

How do I get notified if something breaks?

By email or Telegram, with quiet hours for non-critical alerts, a repeat cadence so you're not bombarded with repeat notifications, and a threshold of consecutive failed checks before a disruption becomes a real incident, to avoid false alarms over issues that resolve themselves in a few seconds.

Is my data safe?

Yes: two-factor authentication available on every account, complete data isolation between clients, dedicated infrastructure (not shared hosting), and verified daily backups also kept off the server.

Can I try it before committing?

Yes. No commitment and no credit card required to get started: reach out through the contact form and you'll get a tailored quote within one working day. On request, you can also see a demo account, to get a feel for the interface before activating the service.

Does Etizei interfere with Google Analytics?

Normally no. Etizei uses server-side HTTP requests and doesn't execute the JavaScript present on the page, so it doesn't trigger Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Meta Pixel or similar browser-based tools. The request can still be logged on the server or picked up by server-side analytics tools. Full details are on the responsible monitoring page.

Can I recognize Etizei's requests?

Yes. Etizei uses a transparent User-Agent (EtizeiMonitor/1.0) and a dedicated header (X-Etizei-Monitor: 1), always the same for every monitor and every customer. You can recognize, filter or allow the requests in your logs, firewall and server-side tools.

Can Etizei be excluded from my statistics?

The requests don't trigger JavaScript-based analytics tools, since Etizei never runs the page's own code. For log-based, CDN or backend statistics, you can filter by User-Agent, the dedicated header, or the probe's IP address.

Does Etizei respect rate limits?

Yes. When a server returns a rate limit or tells it when to retry, Etizei automatically slows down and suspends repeated attempts toward that host, with a wait that grows if the signal repeats. A probe block is also distinguished from a real site outage, instead of raising a false alarm.

Can I use a dedicated endpoint?

Yes. For frequent checks it's a good idea to set up a lightweight technical endpoint, for example /.well-known/etizei-health, and check the real homepage at a lower frequency. You'll find the full guide in the panel, under account settings.

What is Domain Health and how is it different from HTTP monitoring?

Domain Health checks what happens outside the site itself: domain expiry, DNS or nameserver changes, email authentication (SPF/DMARC), new SSL certificates issued without your knowledge, and antispam blacklist presence. It runs on a separate cron, much slower than HTTP/TCP/ICMP, because this data rarely changes and there's no point querying a DNS registry or a registrar every minute.

How do I turn on Domain Health for my monitors?

Each check is a checkbox, per monitor, on the monitor's edit page. It's a feature included only in some packages: if you don't see it available on your account, reach out through the contact form to have it enabled.
